I work with these mediums:

pencil, conte crayon, pen&ink, watercolour, & Golden acrylic paints.
For wall murals, I use Dulux latex wall paints.

how to commission:

1. Contact me at least four weeks before you need the finished work. More time is necessary if it is work requiring much detail and preliminary drafts.
2. Tell me what you want (portrait;cartoon caricature;landscape;wall mural).
   If it is for a business and you are not sure what you want, I will meet you at the business to view the wall spaces you want decorated. We will discuss
   size, color scheme, style (ie: is it a minimalist decor requiring more abstract, undertoned work, or is it a victorian style requiring realist landscapes).
   I will also ask you who are your favorite artists. If you are not sure, I have a book with famous artists that you can browse through to show me what appeals to you.
   My purpose is to tailor the artwork to fit your personality and requirements.
3. Drafts are drawn for businesses only (unless it is a substantial commission for a private estate). There is a 50€ minimum fee for drafts. The price increases with the number required. It is paid before the work begins.
   When portrait work is requested (ie. pubs or private parties), drafts are not done.
4. If drafts are requested, I will return in about two weeks after our initial meeting. We will discuss changes in colour or style you deem necessary. Then, I will begin work when both of us have reached an agreement.
5. If portrait work is requested, I prefer to take my own photos of the subject. PUBLICANS: Experience has proven that it is best to let your clients know you are having a group portrait of them painted. Generally, everyone is more than cooperative. When photos are being taken in a clandestine manner, people become agitated. Because I have an American accent, I can play the ignorant American tourist if you want to keep it a surprise, but patrons still can be uncooperative. You need to decide what regulars you want in your painting. Obviously, the more individuals, the larger the size of the painting required.
   PRIVATE PARTIES: If the portrait is a gift you want to keep as a surprise, I will work from what photos you have in your possession. What I require are sharp images, detailing their facial features. I do not want photos where the subject is staring at the camera smiling. I prefer action photos where the subject is in a natural state that would reveal more about his/her personality...not a frozen smile.
6. Please allow at least four weeks for a completed piece.
7. Payment is on delivery. If it is a large commission, 33% downpayment before work begins is requested; the balance to be paid on delivery.
8. If you are not happy with the work, I will make amendments to the painting where possible. Satisfied customers are mandatory for a business to stay afloat.

*Prices include cost of framing. Please note that glass is not recommended for paintings over five-feet in length. Three coats of UVF varnish is used to protect the painting.
Prices do not include cost of travel or delivery if the site is outside Cork City and its suburbs.
